What Type Of Automatic Backup Software Can Use On Mac

Being new to the MAC world and I am buying this 1 TB, where/what type of automatic backup software can I get/use?I know how to initially backup my computer to the ext hd, just want something to automatically keep my backup current.

I think Time Machine is the best way to go.

If I had a newer Mac Pro I woulod not be asking this question and using time machine. I have a G4, 1.67. Please advise for backup software for the G$.

I used SuperDuper (developed by Shirt Pocket software) for regular backups of an older Mac – it is not a continuous backup program like Time Machine, although think you can schedule regular automatic backups with it. One important caveat: If your G4 is a Power PC (meaning no Intel chip) AND you want your backup drive to be bootable, you’ll need a firewire drive; for some reason, PPCs won’t allow USB external drives to be made bootable. The software is available for older operating systems (all the way back to Jaguar, OS10.2x) and for PPCs, if you just want backups of your files and stuff and aren’t concerned about creating a boot drive. And if your G4 has an Intel chip, then it doesn’t matter. You can make either bootable.
